fansites

hyuksic:

I don’t understand what’s so hard about respecting fansites’ rules to not edit their pictures of gif their videos. there is no excuse for you, saying things like ‘I didn’t know it wasn’t allowed’ or ‘I thought it was okay’. it’s your job as a fan to check if fansites allow editing or not. there is a watermark on every picture - it only takes you two minutes to find out. those few moments of your time is what you owe those awesome people that spend a hella money on being able to give you such beautiful pictures and to keep you updated about your idols. it’s more than a thank you - it’s respect. respect for their work, the time they invest, and them as people.

think about it. how would you feel if you spent your days trying to juggle impossible working hours to afford the equipment and the tickets/albums/travel fares you need to follow your idols? if you spent hours of your day traveling throughout the city, heavy bag with all your camera equipment hanging from your shoulder, hours of standing on your hurting feet waiting for them to come out to have about 10 minutes to take pictures? how would you feel after such hard work, hours of watermarking each and every one of your pictures and uploading them to make fans happy, seeing your very own picture getting reposted, and even worse, your watermark erased and other people claim the edit as their own? and even if they do credit you through a link under the picture, it still hurts because you have to find it out through scrolling through the internet, people that sneakily still disobey your rules without even taking the time to maybe ask you if it’s okay. it makes you feel like you’re doing everything for nothing, it makes you feel disappointed and frustrated and ridiculous, because the fans that you worked so hard for just discard your wish and ungratefully want to get attention through your work.

this is what it means to edit non-editable pictures. this is what you do to the wonderful person taking time out of their life to make you happy. think about this. think about the respect and thanks you should owe them instead of disregarding all the work and money they put into that. if you can still say after reading this that you don’t see their point, our point, in telling you to stop it, then I’m sorry for you.
